Edexcel IGCSE Mathematics – Spec A – Foundation (4MA1)    

The Pearson Edexcel International GCSE in Mathematics (Specification A) qualification enables students to:
~develop their knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts and techniques
~acquire a foundation of mathematical skills for further study in the subject or related areas
~enjoy using and applying mathematical techniques and concepts, and become confident in using mathematics to solve problems
~appreciate the importance of mathematics in society, employment and study.
**This 1 yr (academic year) course prepares candidates for the Foundation level exam board assessment (via your local exam centre*):
Each paper is assessed through a 2-hour examination set and marked by Pearson. The total number of marks for each paper is 100. Each paper will assess the full range of targeted grades at Foundation Tier (5–1). Each paper will have approximately equal marks available for each of the targeted grades. There will be approximately 40% of questions targeted at grades 5 and 4, across papers 1F and 1H to aid standardisation and comparability of award between tiers. A Foundation Tier formulae sheet will be included in the written examinations and a calculator may be used in the examinations. **Deciding which tier is right, Foundation or Higher, having the base knowledge for success:
We can provide a skills checklist that can help you determine your young person’s knowledge and if they have the core knowledge that helps ensure success at IGCSE Foundation Maths level. If sitting the foundation tier, these grades are possible – grades 1 to 5 available

This is a 1 academic year course (approx 30wks; can usually be extended or condensed, if needed) which covers the required syllabus content as well as exam skills/exam preparation. All tutor-led GCSE/IGCSE courses always:
○ cover the required exam board syllabus content
○ include weekly online tutorials (live/recorded), available 24/7 for the duration of the course
○ include a wide range of multi-media support materials
○ include a range of weekly assignments (including exam questions)
○ feature personal and detailed homework feedback (including specific advice on improvements/exam skills) on all homework submitted
○ include weekly online ‘live’ drop-in sessions for learners (just turn up to as many as you need) to discuss any topics/questions/issues
○ include a range of specifically-developed, unique and proprietary detailed supporting content that is available nowhere else
○ feature full and complete tutor support for the entire duration of the course
○ cover revision and exam skills as standard!
(Developed for completion within 1 ‘academic’ year …but … flexible and adaptable for shorter or longer timeframes)
**GCSE/IGCSE 1year courses are available in 2 formats (‘Live’ or ‘Flexible/Recorded) as young people often have a preferred way of learning; this makes it easy for you to tailor a course to your own needs.
