Being creative/innovative with your home education is often the key to keeping young people engaged and keen. For example – a day out at a stately home for an exhibit where Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland come to life didn’t involve any English for our field trip at all!
Instead, this is what we did … 1st) Design and Technology – we used the opportunity to discuss what materials and skills were needed to make many of the props; 2) Business – we discussed the promotions/advertising and staff hiring/training needed to make such an exhibition a success; 3) Maths – we used playing cards to work through a few different topics related to probability!
